Max’s career in the City of London has taken him to Morgan Grenfell, Touche Remnant and Henderson Global Investors. In 2005 he joined a law firm in East Anglia as head of Investment Management. A few years later he engineered a management buyout with a reversal into the newly formed Hawksmoor Investment Management where he was a founding director for 14 years. The firm enjoyed considerable growth over that time in both multi-asset funds and discretionary portfolio management services. In 2021 Hawksmoor was sold to a subsidiary of Carlyle , the Hurstpoint Group. Max remained as a Senior Portfolio Manager, Regional Director and head of 2 offices in London & Suffolk before leaving in March 2023..

Max is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment.

After gaining a first class honours degree at university, Karl started his investment career with J.M Finn & Co. He moved over to the trading side to work as a market maker for IFX Markets. Karl left to set up and run the private client stock broking desk at Mint/BGC.

In 2012 Karl founded Peregrine & Black with Patrick Bullman offering bespoke stockbroking services to professional and institutional clients. Karl became a co-founder of Peregrine & Black Investment management in 2015 and is a director of the business.
